Tips & Recommendations for September

“Be happy, not because everything is good, but because you can see the good side of everything.” – Anonymous

In past posts, we have talked about how to take action in our lives, overcome tough times, and truly do what makes us the happiest. While on this amazing journey called Life, it’s so important to to take a look around and see all the good. See the blessings in our life, look for those who may need our help, and focus on the bright side of life! Founder, Doug Peterson has three tips to help us all focus on the bright side!

3 TIPS FROM DOUG

1. Acknowledge your blessings

It can almost become a habit to focus on what we don’t have, and habits can be hard to break. However, we are living better than Kings ever thought was possible. To change a habit like focusing on what we don’t have, try keeping a gratitude journal. Making it a routine habit to acknowledge the good in your life can become life changing. For example, start or end each day by writing down the good that happened that day, the things you are grateful for, and the things you appreciate about yourself and your life. We suggest keeping a journal that is solely dedicated to this so you can look back on your weeks, months, and years. This will give you perspective on how much you have in your life vs what you lack.

2. Focus on Helping Others

When we take a step back, focus on something other than ourselves, we are able to truly see the bigger picture. Studies have shown that when one feels discouraged, redirecting your energy into helping someone can put you in a more resourceful state. It gives you perspective, and changes the way you use your time and energy for the greater good.

3. Look at the bright side

Focus on what you have learned, there is always a benefit if you look for it. Life is full of highs and lows, and in each of those stages, we learn so much. When looking back at some of the lows, we can see the places where growth was able to happen, and lessons we learned. By looking for the benefit of every situation, it can help us in the future. When something goes South, instead of  focusing on the bad in that moment, you will have rewired your brain to focus on the good, the lesson, the solution, that silver lining. This will, over time, help the way you feel in those moments as well, instead of feeling overwhelmed, you’ll feel a call to action, to see the good and find a solution.
