Tips & Recommendations for February
As we continue with you on your journey to personal financial mastery, we’d like to share how to make things a little simpler
3 TIPS FROM DOUG
1 Don’t reinvent the wheel
Don’t wing your finances. There are tried and true approaches to clean them up and gain control. If you’re following our monthly tips, one from last month was to connect with people who have been in the same boat as you. Ask them what they did to get control of their finances. Research resources around you and—we have to mention—reach out to GPS. We can help guide your search and provide expert insights.
2. Set a time limit
Imagine for a second; you’ve spent hours looking at your finances, trying to figure out what’s next, and you keep running in circles. You’re feeling defeated and worn down. We’ve all been there and it is not productive. Sometimes it can do more damage to our morale than good. That’s why we encourage you to set a time limit. If you have a few things that need to be handled, set yourself a reasonable time limit to complete those then move on. Make a list as tasks pop into your head and tackle those when you have dedicated time to do so. This will help you feel in control and you’ll see progress much faster.
3. Ask for help
We can’t know everything. If you feel like you aren’t seeing the result you want, it might be time to outsource. Ask for help, invest in an expert like GPS, and accept that it’s okay to need guidance. There is no reason to add more stress to your plate when you can ask for help. “if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Albert Einstein
